New generation

The latest generation of the BMW iDrive adds a new, digital dimension to the vehicle-driver interaction. The technological basis is provided by the BMW Operating System 8 in combination with intuitive control options like the outstanding voice control offered by the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

In the cockpit, the large 14.9" curved display allows the digital instrument panel and the central control display to merge into one unit. The gauges of the digital instrument panel are designed in a trademark ALPINA Blue and Green colour scheme.

Neutral handling, excellent traction

All-wheel drive

The performance enhancing all-wheel drive is based on the BMW xDrive system. Depending on what the Driving Experience Control is set to, the torque distribution is predominantly rear-biased. The 8-Speed Sport-Automatic Transmission ZF 8HP76 is specially adapted to the performance characteristics of the high-torque straight-six diesel engine.

Performance & efficiency

Straight-six engine

The straight-six 3.0 litre engine with bi-turbo charging and ALPINA high-performance cooling system offers a maximum output of 261 kW (355 hp). The mild hybrid technology adopted from BMW not only enhances the efficiency of the high-performance diesel engine but also its dynamic response. With electrical power of up to 8 kW (11 hp) instantly available, engine and throttle response are unparalleled, especially at low engine speeds.

Composed and stable

Dampers and springs

The Variable Damper Control provides a wide range of driving experiences ranging from pronounced ride comfort to maximum agility and dynamics. Springs from Eibach as well as bump stops and specifically adapted stabilisers come into play for a more balanced and harmonious set-up.

Comfortable and agile

Variable sports steering

The precision and agility that characterise the BMW ALPINA D3’s handling are achieved through the ALPINA calibrated variable sports steering. The driver can choose from three steering modes: COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+. While in COMFORT mode the focus is on smooth directional stability with a high sense of safety even at high speeds, while the SPORT modes aim to maximise responsiveness and precision.

Tailor-made

Wheels & tyres

The BMW ALPINA D3 S features a fully variable all-wheel drive system and an electronically controlled rear axle limited-slip differential as standard, which in combination with the tailor-made performance tyres, provide very high levels of grip and traction. The ALPINA engineers, in cooperation with the Pirelli tyre experts, have developed model-specific tyres for both the standard ALPINA DYNAMIC 19" cast wheels* and the optional ALPINA CLASSIC 20" forged wheels**. Through the use of materials and construction techniques usually reserved for the ultra-high-performance segment, the tyres offer high safety margins, dynamic grip and ride comfort.

Leistungsdiagramm D3 S

Stated fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are measured pursuant to EU Regulation 715/2007 in its applicable version. From 1st of September 2018 the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) has replaced the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
From January 2021 onwards, European Union member states are required to ensure that new passenger cars offered for sale, for lease or exhibited in showrooms or similar, are clearly labelled with consumption and emission data according to the new WLTP test cycle. Work is currently underway on the amendment of the German regulatory framework which governs the implementation of this European Union obligation in German law, its final completion however is still outstanding. For a number of new vehicles, NEDC consumption and emission values are no longer available, it is therefore reasonable that the more realistic WLTP consumption and emission values are provided to customers instead.
The official manufacturer consumption and emission values have already been determined on the basis of the new WLTP test cycle and, for some models, calculated back to NEDC test cycle for information purposes. The WLTP values are used for the assessment of taxes.

All technical data apply to the German market, additional international units of measure shown in the technical data for the purposes of information only. Further information on specific fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of new passenger cars is provided by the ‚Leitfaden über den Kraftstoffverbrauch, die CO2-Emissionen und den Stromverbrauch neuer Personenkraftwagen‘ which can be obtained free of charge at all points of sale and from the Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT) or online https://www.dat.de/co2/.

Modifications and errors excepted.
